Commentary:   IT'S NOT JUST MENOPAUSE AND YOU CAN BE YOUNG!!!

     There are numerous causes of low bone density and osteoporosis.  They are as
follows:

1.  Menopause and ovarian failure                6.  Inflammatory Bowel Disease              
2.  Cushing's syndrome                                 7.  Malabsorption              
3.  Hyperparathyroidism                                 8.  Vitamin D deficiency
4.  Hyperthyroidism                                        9.  Celiac Sprue
5.  Drugs (long-term use)                              10. Organ transplantation
     a. Glucocorticoids                                   11. Rheumatoid arthritis
     b. Depo-provera                                     12. Osteogenesis imperfecta
     c. Anticonvulsants                                   13. Anorexia nervosa
     d. Gonadotropin-releasing
             hormone analogs,i.e., Lupron

     This list of causes of low bone density is impressive and demonstrates to anyone
that you do not need to be menopausal to get into trouble with osteoporosis.
